ROSSI - Mario

We were searching for Mario ROSSI born 6 April 1946 in Prague, Czechoslovakia and finally found his daughter on 17 July 2008

Here are the details we knew, which ultimatyely led us to the family:

He is the son of Bohumil [Gotthelf] ROSSI, (born 23 January 1909, died on 20 November 1962) and Herta nee HOPFNER (HOEPFNER) ROSSI, born 27 February 1911 in Tilsit USSR.

During the war, Herta worked for the Siemens Factory as a controller. She met Bohumil ROSSI in 1942 in Berlin and married him. After the war she stayed for a while in the Refugee Camp in Nuremberg. They moved to Prague in 1946. In 1947 she acquired Czech citizenship (she was German and she also kept her German citizenship).

She was the daughter of Gustav HOEFNER (with umlaut U) and his first wife Anna Elisabeth nee SCHLICK. They lived in the DDR (Eastern Germany), in Fichtenwald.

Herta visited her parents with son Mario, but without her husband, in summer 1960. She left her parents place on 11 August 1960. She told them that she was going to East Berlin and than back to Prague. However, on 25 August 1960 she sent a postcard to her husband Bohumil [Gotthelf] ROSSI, informing him that she intended to stay in Western Germany.

They are believed to have lived for a time in Czechoslovakia, and were elsewhere on 14 July 1975

Somehow this family is genealogically connected to Ruzena BROZ(ova) and her daughter Eva BROZ(ova) possibly married to KALVACH
Also to a Ludmila KOVARIK(ova), wife of a bank clerk and Stanislav KOVARIK

It is possible that Bohumill ROSSI was the son of Stanislav and Ludmila KOVARIK and took his wife’s name after the marriage

That is literally all we know about the family at this stage.

Do you recognize any of this?

Can you guide us in any way?

If you have no information, do you know of anyone else, anywhere, where we can ask?
