Emil LIEBERMANN  was born in  Kattowitz on 25 March 1904. He went to school in Breslau and started an apprenticeship in the clothing industry working for the BRIENITZER outfitters. He remained in that Company till 1935 and progressed to become its works manager.  At times he had also been a Sales Representative of the firm.

In 1928 he married Thea KATZ

Thea Liebermann nee KATZ was the daughter of Louis KATZ und Regine nee FREY. She was born on 1 October 1908 in Beuthen

In 1935 the family moved to Dresden.  Emil became a self employed Trade Representative and continued to act for the BRIENITZER family.  When the firm was “Aryanized” he lost his position.

The couple had the following four children:

Klaus Peter LIEBERMANN, born 25 Aug 1932 in Breslau
Gabriele Ruth LIEBERMANN, born  2 Jun 1934 in Breslau
Wolfgang Dieter LIEBERMANN, born 31 May 1937 in Dresden
Denny LIEBERMANN, born 30 Sep 1939 in Dresden

Emil LIEBERMANN was arrested in 1938  and tortured. After a period of imprisonment  he was released and emigrated on  29 or 30 Aug 1939 to England. Thea and the children remained in Dresden.

Emil LIEBERMANN enlisted in the army because he had heard that his family would then be able to get his family from Germany, but this could no longer be realized.

Thea LIEBERMANN, together with Klaus Peter was sent to the "Jewish retention camp Hellerberg" in Dresden on  23./24. November 1942, and from there deported to Auschwitz on 2/3 March 1943.  Both perished in Auschwitz.

Wolfgang Dieter was sent  in  January or February 1942 from Breslau to Gruessau. It was reported that he was sent “to the East” in May 1942 where all traced of him vanished.

It is presumed that Gabriele Ruth and Denny had remained with the maternal grandparents in Breslau or possibly remained with the paternal grandparents, but their names are unknown to us.

Were they also deported with the grandparents and perished – or did they survive?

We are searching for the children  Gabriele Ruth LIEBERMANN, born  2 Jun 1934 in Breslau and for
                                                            Denny LIEBERMANN
born 30 Sep 1939 in Dresden
