LOEWENTHAL family from Breslau

We are NO LONGER searching for the family of Walter LOEWENTHAL, born on 14th March, 1894 in Breslau.
Walter arrived in England as a refugee from Nazi Germanny on 2nd October, 1937.

On 30th July, 1938 his wife Else, born 12th July, 1903 in Stettin and his two daughters Ursula born 30th August, 1927 - and Annemarie born 17th August, 1929 also came to England.

The family had been living in Berlin at Martin Luther Strasse 46.

Walter LOEWENTHAL entered Britain with a Home Office Permit to open a ‘Factory in a Distressed Area’.  He was able to provide his own guarantee.  (All immigrants prior to the Second World War had to have a guarantee that they would not become a burden on the British state).  His work was described as “Circular Machine Belt manufacturer – and Director of a wholesale general warehouse.”

Walter LOEWENTHAL first lived briefly in London but by 1941 he had moved to Stockport in the north of England and the last address we have for the family (on 15th May, 1944) is at 175 Burnage Lane, Manchester 19.

We also know that Walter had a niece Gerda LAQUER (1906-1945).
